As blood leaked from his arms the Knight answered the vampire and her taunts, “I bring you death for all your sins, Vampire. Face them.”
“Calling my actions sinful,” The Vampire said as she began bracing herself, “I am above petty morality!”
With her callout the Vampire sent herself forward with a dash of speed. Speed was her advantage and she knew how to use it well against mortals who have all challenged her. Those who had no power or strength in their mind and flesh would have been at her mercy.
Yet as she came close the Knight felt his chest grow red hot. The run that was carved into his skin glowed through the armor, displaying upon it the Rune of Dregni. It was the Rune which represented Slayers.
The Slayers represented many things in Dwarfen Society. It is the ultimate penance for actions made against their gods and also the greatest honor a warrior could have ending their life. What Lucian stood for here was the third greatest reason for Slayers.
Vengeance.
The scythe came fast from the right. A blow that if it went swiftly through the vampire it would sever her head at the neck. A swift single lightning strike that would spell the end of the damned before the battle began in earnest.
No dishonor in this strike though. It was simply a blow that would mean death done right in front of the opponent.
The Von Carstein moved with fluid grace. Her arm came up in a blocking gesture with the expectation that the blow would simply bounce off her flesh like all others. There was credence in her thoughts for Vampire are quite resistant to physical attacks made by mortal men.
Era change though, and the supremacy of the undead shall be called into question.
The strike failed to go into the neck but instead embedded itself roughly three inches into her extended arm. The dead flesh showed no blood spilling from the wound, so no real danger to her life.
Yet as Lucian dislodged the weapon from her arm he was confident. Even without the blessed enchanted scythe of Adok’s making the Knight was more than able to injure her!
