>>5556274She wasn’t the only one. It was beyond obvious that this was a trap. You were being invited inside, where the Agarthans were expecting you’d never return. Still, what other choice did you have? Anemone was inside, as was your target. You’d just have to out-do them at their own game.
>“Enough idle chatter. Let’s move.” As if to make the point clear, you take the front position, leading your mercenaries inside. The inside of the castle is drab and dreary. While built in a structurally impressive way, you note that the interior is almost barren compared to the other castles you’ve been in. There are scarcely any decorations, ornaments, portraits, or really anything inside that would improve the aesthetics of the place. It seems Lysithea had not been kidding about her family’s lack of affluence. Save for two, dingy and worn suits of armor flanking a large door at the end of the hallway, Lysithea’s home was downright depressing. Within the large hallway, there were several doors, including the main one ahead that you had just spotted. There were also two staircases present. One leading to the upper levels of the castle, and the other to the lower.
“Up ahead is the great hall.” Lysithea says. “Upstairs are the personal chambers, while downstairs is the basement. That includes the dungeon, as well as…the lab. These other rooms are for the kitchens, chapel and storage.”
“Perhaps we should start with the Great Hall fir-” Corrine begins speaking, but everyone’s attention is immediately stolen by the doors to the Great Hall opening.
A man emerges into the hallway that your group had been standing in. He wears a neat, soldier’s haircut, as well as well-worn, durable looking armor that puts the flanking suits next to him to shame. The armor, you note, does not extend to his arms, allowing one to see the plethora of scars and cuts that cover them, some of which seem fresh. At his sides are both a sword and an axe. He does not look pleased to see you.
“What the hell’s all this?” The man calls out to you, from the opposite end of the wall. “Castle’s closed. Fuck off.”
“What did you just say?” Theo pushes to the front. “Who the hell are you?!”
“Oy! You lot barge into a castle you have no business of being in armed and start asking ME questions? You’re nothing but petty thieves ain’t ya? Well, we ain’t as defenseless as we look. So, piss off before I gut ya!”
