The onslaught of rodents against them was like a tide of meat and flimsey bones. First they sent the ones who were obviously malnourished with little flesh upon the bones to speak of. They died quickly as the grouping of warriors cut them down into ribbons of tenderized meat. Said creatures, Lucian realized, were likely meant to try and exhaust them for the true horde to come.
“FOR KAZAK ANCHOR!” Shouted Adok as the Dwarf slammed his hammer into one of the Skaven, its glowing power quickly reaching out and striking in a mimicking hammer.
Suddenly an entire grouping of the Skaven were killed were turned into a smudge upon the ground for their fellows to run over.
Those that were trying to get near Tee-Nee-Tyny were quickly slaughtered by Bok. The giant of a lizard using its giant club to batter and mulch the Skaven into brutal stains of barbaric violence. The Skink did fight a few, but the small Priest dispatched the many Skaven that faced him with a staff that seemed to come from no where and severed their necks.
One of them, whose life still gushed the black blood of their damnation, was turned over by the Skink and its chest ripped into with a single stroke of the Priest’s hand. Ripping out of the Skaven’s chest was the still beating heart of the Skaven warrior who was quickly consumed in full by the Skink.
As if his god was answering a prayer the Skink’s eyes became lit and with a reaching of his hands torrents of lightning escaped from them. Several dozen Skaven from his side were frozen for an instant until they were killed in an explosion of divinely roasted gore.
It was through these acts of bizarre sorcery and brutality that allowed Wigmar and Lucian to both fight together in the final flank. Both of them becoming caked in the gore of the Skaven as sword and scythe reaped their bloody reward. However unlike the reserve standoffish manner of the Imperials, the Bretonnian had thrown himself into the rats with trust in his armor to keep him alive.
It was good trust, the Knight decided, for none of the weapons nor missiles that the Skaven used were finding purchase upon his body.
As he cut down five of them Lucian noticed something in the back. One of the Skaven walking up towards them but not in the tattered rags of the vermin dregs. This one’s face was covered from head to toe in some sort of parchment cloth with crystals for eyeballs.
