>>5798613>>5798626>>5798638"Sorry Caesar, if we want to stop these guys I can't waste any time. I gotta get to the station and work on that guy. Find out everything I can."
Caesar's eyebrows knit together, anger.
"And what about us? We're just supposed to sit here?"
"He's not saying that at all, son." Hawthorne steps forward. "We'll stay with you until the other officers arrive and your mom is safe and sound." He offers a steaming bowl of ramen.
"There's stuff happening, bigger than us, the stuff your mom dropped off might be part of it." You tell him and pull out your notepad and scribble down.
"This is my personal number. If anything happens, if you need me, you call me. Shit, you can even call just to chat if you want. Call me tonight and let me know if everything goes well." You hold out the scrap of paper, it flutters in the breeze from the still open window, he hesitates.
"Look Caesar, if I don't follow up on this guy, other people might get hurt. This is what it means to be a cop, I want to stay with you, but I can't put my wants first." You frown and shake the paper. Caesar takes it finally and moves to the table sitting with his ramen. He doesn't say anything but as they eat you see him enter your info into his cell.
Hawthorne takes you aside.
"I don't think I need to be the one to tell you that giving your number out to civilians is against Department policy, I also don't need to tell you this kid has a lot of connections with some dirty groups. If your number gets out, you can handle yourself. But getting labelled snitch for having a cop's number..." He lets the sentence linger, the implication is clear though.
About twenty minutes pass before the next detail arrives. Hawthorne handles passing off all the case info you have so far. As he finishes up the mother arrives, she looks shockingly young, you never got a look at her face in your vision.
"Perp is definitely up and thinking of excuses." Hawthorne lets you know, he nods at the Mother.
"Let the others get her statement and get her to a safehouse, every second we aren't questioning the perp is more time he has for finding ways to hide info from us."
You look to Caesar and his sister, they hug their mom tightly as she cries into his hair.
>"You said I was the lead on this, Hawthorne. Let's stay to get her story first." >"You're right, lets get that asshole to the station for some questioning." >Write-In
