A current of confused panic looms over the area, as the guards scramble to make themselves presentable and some to hurriedly swim off to bear the news. You sense that the sudden arrival of such a duo, a sea monster and a human together, is so far outside their expectations or experience that they just resort Faysal's bidding without stopping to more carefully ponder the situation.
Overall, it seems like a situation where the quickest to draw was the victor, so of course Faysal would be sly enough to boldly take command.
<span class="mu-b">"Little man..."</span> you growl, and reach up to grab him off your shoulder with your other arm, <span class="mu-b">"What was <span class="mu-i">that</span>?"</span>
<span class="mu-s">"Wh-What..."</span> he nervously feigns a smile, feeling like he did something right. <span class="mu-s">"It worked, did it not? That is how you should act if this is your emirate- ah, kingdom. Otherwise you are only an invader!"</span>
You contemplate biting him in half for his presumption, grumbling and grinding your teeth as you trudge along through the water on the old streets, between the ruined buildings. Ruined foundations at least, up close you can see how vibrant and populated the settlement is, with signs of rebuilding or even new building to accommodate inhabitants. Here and there, from alleyways, windows, and from the open water above the buildings, you get the same growing attention.
<span class="mu-s">"Stan- Swim aside good people, here comes Tanal-"</span>
<span class="mu-b">"-enough of that!"</span> you grab him with your other hand to shut him up since one seemed not enough.
Though it is an immense annoyance to you, you don't feel you should fault his enthusiasm. He is a young man after all, though he is obviously most giddy because this whole experience is so far beyond what he could ever have imagined, like being plunged into some fantasy world when his life had been strictly normal just days ago.
If nothing else though, his outbursts do seem to maintain the balance between curiosity and fear. Otherwise all the sea life of the area would have fled from you and the settlement by now, same as down in the abyssal ruins. Needless to say it's quite overwhelming when you trudge along to the main plaza of the high city ruins, finding the place massively populated by sea folk going about their daily lives. You are given a wide berth as you move through the place, but otherwise things more or less proceed as normal.
