Once again we're ... lucky? The Luperni have only a small allotment of guards, and their job is to watch the Rainbow Records and the Shipping near the Metallurgical Records. Should be about 6 Biters. Swords, light shields, and Luperni Light Boost kits.
The rest is all students and staff! Incredible.
However, I don't think it's going to be all easy because it turns out the Luperni make up by not having that many guards by - for some reason only the bright grand stirling FIRE in the SKY knows - having a garrison-honour-guard of a voidtinged, sigilcursed, sandal-stomping, four-times-over-decorated, Decani of Legion Command's hardest skullcrackers.
WHY
This is so, so, SO far beyond what a normal library needs - even one that stores grand secrets of a hundred years and the riches of the Luperni! - that it beggars my otherwise pretty fanciful mind.
You don't ask Scholae-Palatines with their names written in the pillars of salt in the House of Loyalty to sit and guard a bunch of book-lovers. This guy should be leading three-hundred times as many troops in small bids to take over countries for sport.
I also know that Legio Oculus is not a standard Legio formation. Those lads and ladies are counter-intelligence specialists.
... Which, uh, not to put too fine a point on it, means there's a small diplomatic representation of Legion High Command's finest thiefcatchers just hanging about the library we're about to break in to.
Sometimes, I think the Saints are punishing me for perceived slights.
The only good news I can think to in all this is that there is absolutely no way, utterly preposterously impossible, more likely to find good beer in Pyther, that they're here because of us. I mean, we're pretty slick? But we're definitively not " Ask a Theurge Splendid to make sure we don't steal a book" slick.
I wonder why they're here...
It's a LONG shot, but do we still have some of that Flutter wine?
