Hello qtg. You may know me as the low IQ incestfag worldbuilder anon for the bbeg quest (title list pending). I have come to deliver new lore.
Autumn is really getting to me, the weather is very depressing and progress on worldbuilding is, as usual, slow. Help would be very welcome.
Also I realized I write much for little substance. Please tell me if picrel like how I write my notes would be a more interesting format of information.
YST, LAND OF THE LIVING GODS
Yst is a human state in western Wildlands.
The most striking feature of Ystians is their heroic culture. They are fairly competitive between each other, but not in an underhanded, cut-throat way. The nobles of the land customarily embark upon a journey to far lands in search of adventure and power. Few return, but those that do come back having grown tremendously in power to reach demigod status, being very powerful sorcerors and warriors. They are revered and worshipped by the common folk of Yst. Religious festivals are often held both in their honour and to provide a source of entertainment for the people.
The regular people of Yst have borrowed some of the heroic traditions from their rulers. It is considered good to better oneself and be competitive towards one's peers, and those that spend their life growing their power are respected as elders once they reach an advanced age. Some among the common populace embark on quests for power much like the nobles, but without all their time dedicated to training, they seldom succeed. It is not unheard of, however.
Yst is a high-population agricultural state amid half-jungle. Its cities feature monumental temple and palace architecture from clay brick and stone. Its people were still half-migratory not long ago and in case of bad harvests they left cities to practise a hunter-gatherer lifestyle. The rulers of Yst did everything in their power to prevent that from happening, and their efforts to provide an emergency reserve of grain for bad years have yielded results: the majority of the populace is now settled.
One of the foremost industries of Yst is dye manufacture from local materials. It is practised most intensely in Arit, a northern city which has the most powerful priests. Other places of interest are the southern city of Ur, with exceptional temple guards, the southwestern Mard training bat slayers on the border of the militant Qezotl, and the city of Sanur in the centre of Yst, where stone for construction of temples is mined and great javelineers may be recruited.
Their magic focuses on empowering both their massed troops and further enhancing the strength of their heroes with powerful enchantments of all kinds.
