>>5832823“Let's see... Eleven hours and twenty three minutes. You were out for quite a while.”” your Stand replies, your jaw dropping.
“Too long, I've got to go.” you reply, sitting on Dr. White's desk and opening the neck of your suit, putting your legs into it to step into the suit. It only takes a moment, but once you're dressed you start to go to the door, but surprisingly your Stand gets in front of it. “What are you doing?”
“No, you can't go yet.” Triumph Requiem says, openly defying you for the first time you can remember. It shocks you, your Stand never tried to give YOU orders before. Being so shocked, you don't oppose it, instead asking a single question:
“Why?”
“Dr. White's orders.” Triumph Requiem replies, you feeling your eyebrows going up. You trust him completely, but that does leave you curious as to your condition. “He told me to keep you here until he awoke, to check you over.”
“Did he say why?” you ask, turning as you hear the good doctor's door opening. You see him walking out, looking a little groggy with three cups of something steaming warm in his hands, setting them all down at his desk before looking up. “Ah-”
“Right on time.” he says, gesturing to the two cups. “Caulifla, Triumph Requiem, help yourselves.”
“Thank you.” you reply immediately, going over and grabbing one of the coffee's he'd made for yourself. Triumph Requiem follows suit, you sitting at one of the two chairs across from his desk and simply sip on the warm drink. After giving him a few sips and quiet, you finally then ask. “So, what's going on? Do you know what's wrong with me?”
“To put it frankly? Exhaustion.” he replies, surprising you. “Not physical exhaustion, mind you. But an exhaustion of the mind. According to Triumph Requiem's retelling, you were showing all the signs of Burnout.”
“Burnout? What's that?” you ask, knowing you've heard the term before but can't quite place it.
“Burnout is a form of exhaustion, caused by overwhelming and continuous emotional, mental, and sometimes also physical stress.” Dr. White says, opening his drawer and drawing out a pencil. Putting more and more pressure as he talks. “Burnout builds up over time, caused by the stresses of having too much responsibility. It is quite a common occurrence in the medical profession, it happens to almost everyone at some point. The pressure of expectations and worry builds and builds, until-”
<span class="mu-i">SNAP</span>
You jump back a bit in your seat as the pencil snaps, recoiling away from the sudden loud noise over the doctor's quiet, calming tone.
“I know what you've been going through, at least to some extent. 'We have the power to save others, so every moment we're not helping them is time we're wasting on ourselves'.” he says, shocking you with how accurate his sentence was to your thoughts.
