>>5247989"Damn, from the little I've seen of Jerome, I thought he was just some lazy richie. Didn't think he would try to play hero. What got into him?
"When no hero shows up for your aid, you have to be your own savior. I wasn't particularly close to him myself, but I've gotten quite used to seeing his face. I did also get used to seeing corpses since I've walked with the mistress for so long, but It's never a pleasant feeling to see them falling on your team, is it?"
Between Serpico's deadpan voice, his squinty eyed expression, and how fast he processes his emotions, it's hard to say whether he's taking the news in stride, or if he's just so exhausted by everything that all he knows is to smile and nod when asked to.
"Apologies, I didn't mean to turn the situation about me."
"I'm not exactly your boss, Serpico. You can be subjective on your debriefings, especially if it's a situation you just got out of."
"Noted. I'm just trying to get used to the attention."
"You call me talking to you every now and then attention?"
"Well, yes. When I hear my name called, it's mostly to follow orders, not for the 'How's it going?' chatter."
"Guess I should change the subject to familiar territory then. How's Farnese?"
"That's exactly the reason why I'm somewhat aimless today. I appear to be in some sort of vacation? Farnese told me she doesn't want me by her side for some time. She needed room to think and didn't want any interruptions, so I left her on her own and came over here to inquire."
"Huh, does she tend to do that often?"
"Not in the slightest. First time, actually. When she got mad at somebody and took it on me, it was easy to tell, but the fact that there's no malice in her words means something drastic got to her on that day, something other than the mountain of corpses she's used to seeing."
Serpico kneels over to your eye level, closely observing your facial expressions.
"You wouldn't happen to know what that was, would you?"
