The good cop/bad cop plan decided on, Vee and Escavalier walk down into the basement. As soon as the basement door opens Chrem immediately stops crying and puts forth a face of perfect stoicism. The Bisharps in the cell with her eye the guildies warily, sizing them up. Ironquill is in the cell adjacent to them, pretending to be asleep in an almost-convincing way, save for him temporarily opening his eye to look at the guildies walking in.
