Each egg spawns a hatchling army if clearing a blocked tile fails. The dead Patriarch would also have a hatchling army in it's tile, and passing an observation check would show that he was killed by giant snakes people, agitating the spiders even further. If we reached the eggs, you could squash it before the army hatches. If everyone dug together, one person's success could cancel the failure of another. The matriarch could spawn a hatchling army from the hatchery, arriving in a one turn delay to help.
If Arachne was left alive, she would grow into another matriarch and either attack the dojo in revenge, or ambush the team if they went to attack the snakes. The puppet is ok to leave behind, but it's only source of loot in the dungeon.
If both the puppet and Arachne was left alive, Arachne would use the puppet as body armor.
