"I am not here by choice either! Don't you feel upset seeing all these people being unable to simply live and be with their families?"
"A little bit, yeah. But what am I supposed to do, cry for them?"
"You could set me free, for starters."
"I wasn't paying attention to the debriefing today, but I've heard the word 'Phantom' enough times to last a lifetime, so no can do. I know you can probably release a bunch of arcane shit at people if they upset you, so let's not be hasty about our decisions, ok? I can only take so many salary cuts." Jerome says without even turning his head back into the clouds.

"This would be harder to do if you cared about your job."
"Look, I really don't care about you, or whatever crime you're here for, just don't get me into trouble!" He tries to reason.
"If I willingly got into the cage before, you have nothing to be worried about. If anyone asks, just say I used my ghost powers to phase out of the cell."
"Grr..." Jerome covers your cage with a rag, letting you out while your hands were still restricted.
"Damn it, I just wanted to check the girls out. Why did you have to get captured by Farnese anyway?" Jerome straps you to his horse as you stay behind him, explaining to his colleagues that you needed to take a piss.
