As a bonafide smoothbrain I tend to lean more towards quests with streamlined mechanics--I'm more of a story guy than I am a number cruncher, so if I'm struggling to understand how to play for too long, I usually dip out. That's not to say quests with intricate mechanics aren't good, of course, but if I gravitate anywhere it'll usually be around the more narrative-driven quests. That said, I really enjoyed how Ogre Civ quest handled rolls back in the day... something about a roll being so stupid that it works marvelously still tickles me today.
>QM questionI'll echo what's been said already--banter usually means that players are invested, which is good. Once it gets disruptive, though, you'll wish it never happened. That said, people in my quest have been civil, for the most part, and it's really great to be able to shoot the shit a bit in between writing updates!
>General QuestionIt certainly spoils the fun when someone has to spam a vote to get what they want. Best practice is usually to link a post to a previous one, but even that doesn't always work. Hard to say.
