"Commence mission," L4 Arsi blandly calls, like from a script. "Find the captives and exfiltrate. Be warned, the hostages might be overjoyed when you find them. This can attract the wrong attention. We need one to move past the barn and deal with any butchers and cattlehands before they have a chance to respond. I highly recommend against pressing past the freezer into the public eatery, or permitting the stable doors to the street opposite of your entry point to open."

L3 Eugen turns to face everyone. "I will handle the barn. The cages have to be unlocked, and this fascinating glove has enough acid to dissolve anything I can't pick."

"I'll handle the butchers," L3 Kiikoinen quickly clarifies. "Fahy, go deal with the tower." The moment L2 Fahy's harness is off, the rope zips back up as the truck spools it back into place, and the irishman grins as he rushes off like a rabid dog.

The man on the radio gives a thoughtful humm. "Kiikoinen, do you need backup with the butchers?"

L3 Kiikoinen begins making his way over, peering through foliage on the fence. "I shouldn't need assistance," he answers with a considerable amount of difficulty behind his voice.

"But we also do not know how many captives there are to rescue," Sigrun comments comments. "Disappearances range above sixty, but they might have been consolidated into easily accessible pens. It might be better to disrupt their operations by killing their skilled workers."

Any call of your own, Jarnafeldt? Time is limited, so straying from an executing plan would be bothersome to everyone involved.

Passing through some offices, you see Kiikoinen and Eugen, in the middle of drafting a mission. You had intended to give a simple greeting, but Lalli didn't stop looking at you as you walked by with your rather pain filled gait.

You stop and spin on your heels, not able to turn down talking to them. It would be suspicious or rude to dismiss it and walk on by; Kiikoinen can tell a lot about a girl by how they walk, you bet. Dirty hound like him has definitely-no no no, that's the henbane, shut up.

It was still hurting when I woke up, so I got it checked out, but they said it was fine," lying feels a lot better when you approach the part where you put something truthful on top. Kiikoinen doesn't seem to like that answer, though. If there was anyone who could see through your fib, it was Eugen.

She, however, didn't care for the truth there. "We were planning our next missions. This hold on operations is terrible for our luck against the squatters. When we finally get the all-clear from whatever it is causing the hold, we can go forward with one of these jobs as soon as possible."

"I talked with somebody, and it should be lifting tomorrow," you throw out.

"They'd tell you before me. Tch." Sigrun spits, mildly annoyed. "But, good news all the same."

You were about to leave, but the manhuntress continues. "Say, I want your opinion. Do you think we should stop them from getting good meals, or bait a feral jotunn into their settlement? The latter has obvious consequences of softening up their defenses and definitely killing a few people trying to take it down, but they want to toughen up their diet with rich meat for the coming pogrom, and they don't get lobster and steak like we do. So, they've turned to kidnapping and cannibalism."

As an L2 agent, you should start learning how to handle yourself and other agents lower in rank than you, so declared your mentor L3 Trollslayer Lalli Kiikoinen. You're certain they have some smuggling route. If you could find how the Squatters are bringing in the aberrations, the Stormwatch can do something about it, and maybe trace it back to where they're currently hiding out. Since the Letiva are being disposed of, the other channels they have of getting food are going to be a lot more busy.

You were also made aware of a biologist that lurks in the forests out here; some old coot that they call "Leshy." If you could find him, you explained, you could get an idea of what creatures are naturally supposed to be around Helsinki and which ones are definitely imported, and judging from that, how they get in. This Leshy could point you in the right direction if you find him.

Nevermind how the mission is mainly an excuse to take a walk away from the city and its cameras for a bit. Nevermind how you wanted to talk to Leshy anyway since he might know your father. You're more than a little homesick, you admit.

Ulterior motives well hidden and aside, Kiikoinen approved of your sortie, and has left the recruitment process to your own discretion. He hands you a template for the paperwork needed, and you almost regret the whole ordeal.
