Quoted By:
Those words spoken were meant to be final but the other gave a response, “Why do you sink your teeth into so many of my fellow man? Have you been cursed with an ethereal hunger which cannot be quenched?”
The Dragon focused upon his foe with an anger of three thousand stars. An anger so great that he wished to eliminate this person but the entire planet they were upon. Such was the transgression of those words that they mocked a C’Tan! Yet…
“Does it matter to you whether I do so out of hunger or pleasure? My hunger is what ruined me and brought me to this epoch's long exile. To be a refugee within the Galaxy that I once ruled! So if you speak of it as a curse then it is a curse, a curse that I suffer from the sapience that I so enjoy.”
It was then that the C’Tan could taste it. Oh how powerful this emotion his sparing foe was. Many of his fellows felt emotions differently and beyond all the emotions that the Dragon enjoyed it was Inspiration.
“This is but a shard of you, one which roams the Galaxy as nothing more than a pest.” The Apex of Man said as he spoke what the Dragon knew to be a deal, “It also means that this is but one of many chances you have. If I betray you them you will only have lost one piece of yourself against thousands.”
“Only I am free, Saint.” The God spoke with a dangerous fury. Said fury seemed to lesson as he raised a hand towards the stars and studied them, “But you are wise beyond your years. Yes, to the Aeldari I am but a pest. A maggot of their Mythic past that can be destroyed with a single thought if they learn of my existence. Speak, Saint, but you tread in the space between stars.”
“If I were to relieve you of your hunger, you shall give mankind Machines.” Declared the Apex of Mankind as if he was talking to an equal.
“You must have a theory, Saint. Prove to me you speak the truth and you might have Technology beyond your comprehension.”
Upon his challenge the Emperor raised his hand and pointed it towards the Dragon. It was then that the hunger which had been gnawing him for eternity began to wane. The Dragon could taste the flavor of emotion which the Apex of Mankind gave to him. Belief.
