>>5663855>DieselpunkSo there are two ways of doing this, I think maybe a Highfleet style World War 2 look combined with Mad Max Fury Road etc, because ENGINES
I read this very interesting rpg setting called The Dawnline. In this setting, humans and vampires have formed a symbiotic relationship. It is set on a planet filled with feral / insane ghoul vampires, I think someone activated some sort of orbital cannon thing that scorches the earth (basically, the planet is divided into a moving burn zone / daylight zone and a night zone dark region, and the humans constantly move and migrate across the planet to stay out of the daylight burning apocalyptic fire weapon death region). However, the safe night zone is populated by aforementioned insane feral ghoul vampires, so the humans have made a pact with a small minority of sane guardian / protector vampires - they cohabit with these guardian vampires who act as wardens or some sort of blood shepherds lol as they herd their human cattle populations into the darkzone whilst trying to outrun the burn zone. The humans offer sacrifices and their blood to appease their protectors etc but of course there is always the risk that once in a while, their warden vampires succumb to madness and go on a slaughter feeding rampage instead hehe.
Anyway the reason why I mention this game world - I think a key part of DIESELPUNK is engines, you need to be constantly on the move, this rpg provides an intriguing rationale for why you need to be constantly migrating. If you want to imagine the burn region maybe think of that sandstorm hurricane wall from Fury Road. So really you want to create a city that is like a motorised armada (again think Mad Max Fury Road), the city is a moving motorised convoy or something. Just lots of ENGINES GREASE and PISTONS, EXPLOSIONS EROTIC CAR ACCIDENTS insert JG Ballard sexualisation of car crash fiction here
>>5663869>fog, smog pollution instead? This is a good idea BananasQM, but wouldn't it make more sense if the eldritch fog itself was pollution generated from the Dieselpunk engines themselves? Maybe THE ENGINES ARE DEMONS hehe
