He loses an arm to Golden Age Guts + Griffith, which fair enough, you can attribute to Femto's causality, but after that he fights evenly with Guts at the hill of swords which entices Grunbeld to search for the guy, and later on in his apostle form he struggles to beat the likes of Ganishka without asking Guts for a truce.
I have no doubts that Fantasia Guts with The Berserker armor could defeat Apostle Zodd by himself, even if he died afterwards, which makes it hard to believe that SK and Zodd are comparable in strength when one of them has a sword that can nope you out of existence and suck the whole dimension of Qlipoth back to where it was.
For him to not have been killed off by Skull Knight for over 300 years, I believe he either spares him out of pity from having a related past or because he doesn't consider him a primary threat. Hopefully they elaborate on why that is now that Berserk is back in publication, it's why I didn't feel like it was too far-fetched for Vlad/Serpico/Farnese to beat him together when he tied with Guts in the Mandragora Arc originally
