Blood flew everywhere as the Knights made contact with the lines of the enemy. The force of their charge was enough to smash apart so many of the hereteks that were forming the shocktroops of the assault. Leandros could feel electricity crawling up his leg as he stamped down upon a creature who was once an electro flagellant and then felt cables cut by a series of bodies being ran into his pistons.
It did not hurt the Knight, Dei Bellator, for there were plenty of different wires and such to compensate for the loss of single ones. All of these scratches were nothing compared to the carnage that the Knight was inflicting upon his foes with a brutal efficiency.
As he sliced through the horde he watched as one of his fellow Knights had a shell slamming directly into its flare. Luck was in for that Knight as its Ion Shields took the first shot, but then several others began badgering the Knight with gunfire that was coming from a company of Leman Russes. Seeing this happen Leandros could not let it stand and shot a spear of electricity into two of the Leman Russes, causing the two to explode in an implosion of fire and death.
It was then that he realized they were a distraction, for the next moment he found himself raising his shield towards a fellow Knight. Looking upon him Leandros realized this Knight was Incredulus Stultus, member of House Morales which was a servant house to Legio Mortis. He felt a creep going down his spine as he noticed that the warmachine he was fighting was covered in boils and flesh bids, many of them still holding the shape of the humans they once were.
The Knight, who was once a Paladin, tried to use his Thunder-Strike Gauntlet. It was only to Leandros’s luck that he was able to raise his shield in time to receive the attack and bash his opponent away.
His foe was undisturbed as he did this. It was as if just fighting was enough to place his fellow into a lucid state driven by whatever foul gods he was worshiping. Maybe it was because of the fight, or maybe it was because every step the two of them took killed at least a dozen of the cultists.
Whatever the case he was now able to pay attention to his target and with a push of his lance he tried to strike at it. Two times did his spear fail to impact the hull of his foe in such a way that it would injure it, but the other three speared right through their targets and caused blood to be sprayed all across the chassis of Dei Bellator.
Disgust flowed through Leandros as he realized this Knight had far more bodies within it than he thought of. Maybe, just maybe, the Faithless had learned of a war to bring Knights to the field without a Pilot by simply stuffing it with bodies of the damned.
