When I was looking up the meanings of Heqet Hekwa, I read that Heqet meant ruler, but was also the name of a goddess. However, this goddess had a frog head and no Sphinx features. So no physical resemblance. However, she is the goddess of renewal and cycles, just like the Nile floods and recedes with the seasons. Also, "Time is a river," so with all that there could be some connection to time there.
