Rolled 8, 10, 16, 8, 8 = 50 (5d20)
>>5622888>>5623001>>5623598Picrel, but let me put that into perspective: some of those 2d20s were a result of MC's genetic heritage and some (most, I think), a result of *entire childhood and teenagehood* spent on strict and rigorous training, as the MC was the titular reptilian infitrator. We're talking Black Widow's childhood here, but worse.
Now, you might think "okay, but this is an OPM quest!" and that is true, but these dice should be considered a bit carefully since they provide a nice learning curve on a mechanical level. And even then, lower-ranking heroes are an equal match to mid-tier monsters, not overpowering them.
Which reminds me, actually, that heroes and monsters BOTH have "power levels", you might be an A-class with 4d100 ability, but if you're going against a Dragon-threat, you should be either looking at at least a DC:80 (pulled this out of my ass, these are hard to come up with), or... roll 5d100 for the monster.
I actually distinctly remember Ismena's "finally, a worth opponent" moment, where she went up against the city's Archmage, and so her 5d20 in Mentalism (or whatever she used) clashed against his own 5d20 (or so) dice for magic. This was NOT a standard practice, most tasks had a flat DC of 10 or 15, when QM thought it wasn't clear whether MC was capable of successfully accomplishing a task and dice needed rolling.
That said, I think the Archmage duel might be something interesting you could try out for the Hero vs. Monster fights. Can dig it up from archives to see exactly how it was resolved, if you guys want it.
Rolling for appeal.
