Vinnie breaks the clinch before the ref needs to intervene, then he leans back in a wicked and vicious uppercut. You cup your hands around your mouth: "Go time, baby! Hit dat sucka's light switch!" Vinnie begins battering the side of David Otani's temple with overhand rights. The young man's brain is protected only by his skull, 16 oz. gloves, a slurred understanding of what is happening to him, and people willing and able to break this up.
Mortadella breaks out of his numb focus into a joyous rage, punching in stiffer and stiffer movements, as if he was Bruce Lee giving a karate demonstration.
"Hooo!!!" Vinnie exhales and telegraphs an uppercut to the jaw, sending his rival flying off of his feet, knocked out mid-air. Still knocked out when he lands. The ref calls it.
Ding ding ding!
You run into the ring and lift up the glove of the laughing Vinnie, who is looking at his downed rival, and then to the dozens of adoring fans in the crowd. You shout for everyone to hear, "and your winner is... VINNIE MORTADELLA!!!"
People are cheering, Vinnie is celebrating, David's coach is consoling his fighter, the ref is holding Vinnie's glove up now, and the officials are are announcing Vinnie's win on the gym's speaker system. But you can't hear a thing. The rest of your life begins flashing before your very eyes. Training in nonna's garage. Recruiting more fighters. Smackin' down glizzies with the boys. Lots of drug abuse and lots of sex workers. Stacks of cash and backroom meetings. Looking over yoh shoulder until you say "fuggit. I ain't lookin' over my shoulder no moah."
Possible Ending 1: -Train your boxers to fight (and dive) their way through the tournament circuit, touring town to town and living the big life, becoming a world-renowned celebrity, surrounded in fame, women, money, controversy, haters, and everything else that comes with the territory.
Possible Ending 2: -Kidnap and ransom District 14 Comptroller Larry Johnstone, pay off the mob, get facial reconstruction surgery, flee. Dis country is no good to us. You're taking Vinnie and Nonna with you to live happily ever after back in the home country: Canada.
Possible Ending 3: -Even out and become a straight coach with an honest stable of fighters. Start a charity for kids in low income households who dream of becoming boxers. Get back in the good graces with the mob. Launder hundreds of thousands of dollars through your charity and become a don, with Mortadella as your consigliere.
You chose Ending 4: Confront the mob don with Vinnie and your rag tag crew of crooked aspiring boxers, and go down in a blaze of glory in a botched mission to take on the mob and erase your debt. The mob family actually comes crumbling down after your deaths when the police investigate, and you become memorialized as heroes and martyrs.
