>>5314702Lying to your companions and the Margrave is one thing. Lying to the soon to be King of Faerghus is an entirely different matter, particularly when he may very well be able to call your bluff. You decide to risk it and reveal your true identity, and hope that your actions here may have endeared you to Dimitri enough that he will overlook your prior association with the Empire.
>“Blair d’Rusalka, my lord.”Corrine groans in frustration beside you, and suddenly all eyes are in your direction. Dimitri himself looks taken aback, getting a good look at you for the first time, while Dedue’s face gives nothing away. The Charon Knights don’t immediately take any action, though Sir Bertram looks at you with narrowed eyes. You begrudgingly note that his hand seems to be hovering near his blade.
“De roo what?” Theo asks. “I thought your last name was Weaver. You a noble or something?”
“Yes, please do explain.” Sir Bertram adds.
“Blair, is it?” The prince starts, giving you an approving nod. “Some of my friends have spoken highly of you. You’d been a dependable ally to many of the Blue Lions in their times of need during this last year. And now it appears that you’ve come to my aid as well. I know not what would cause you to turn against your homeland, but I will not offer complaint. I fear that we will need all the help we can get in the coming days.”
A sigh of relief from Corrine, as well as from Sir Bertram. So long as the most important man in the country has no issue with your identity, you don’t expect any trouble from the others. Dedue, who had remained quiet up until now, finally speaks. “My lord, let us perhaps continue this conversation upon our return to Charon. Staying here any longer may prove to be dangerous should enemy reinforcements arrive.”
Sir Bertram nods in agreement, issuing orders to his men. “We’re moving out. Secure the enemy commander. We’ll have plenty of questions for him once we make it back to the keep.”
The Charon Knights, as well as your own friends, work together to drag the dead horse off the immobilized Sir Gerold. The man is clearly suffering excruciating pain, though his eyes seem to be focused on you. He clearly heard your conversation and is now aware as to your true identity. It’s hard to say if anyone has ever looked at you before with as much hatred and contempt as this now lame knight does. You can’t really blame him. That will likely be a look you’ll be getting very used to. Once the man is secured and all present injuries are accounted for, you all depart back to Charon, leaving the corpses of the Imperials to be found by their allies.
