I am actually not as good at sci fi, it always comes out a bit wh40k for me lol, I tend to be more comfortable with old historical settings.
I have always fantasised about some sort of hybrid 4X spaceship trading first person shooter EVERYTHING game, like EVE Online Mass Effect Endless Space Sins Of A Solar Empire Star Citizen combined.
Age Of Wonders Planetfall came close, I liked the tech tree and diplomacy how you could close your borders with alliances etc. but the combat was still hex grid battle chess, we want to fire those railguns ourselves lol. (Also: Planetfall has BIKINI LASER TYRANNOSAUR amazon women).
