The voracious insect hive lives in the south-west corner of the Great Hall. They have eaten most of the tomes in that section, and it is said that the loss of knowledge from the books they have eaten is a disaster of incomparable proportion. Indeed, the books of the Great Hall are the direct creation of Thyp'ptyklpt, and they are priceless. The Scribes, however, have not taken any action.

A group of perfidious goblins reside in the western aisles. They are known to be extremely hateful and destructive, and they have exterminated all the other races that used to live in the library, which resulted in the loss of all previously known civilization. Generally, they are feared and avoided by everyone.

There is also a settlement of human beings in the center of the hall. They have made a circle of shelves around their territory as protection against the more hostile races. They have managed to survive for several generations, feeding from books mostly, but many members of their tribe have gone missing recently.
