>>6332297>"where random things happen without any narrative, no catharsis...">"Most people don't play games or read stories to replicate life's sense of purposeless meandering...??"I briefly surrender to my VAMPIRIC WEEABOO FORM (this is the maximal extent of my power) I summon Takashi Miike to commit some samurai atrocities amongst your defenceless innocent feudal peasant womenfolk anon, you must now embrace the wandering aimless itinerant lifestyle of the MASTERLESS RONIN I am very sorry but this suffering was entirely necessary to convey my argument hehe yay
But in terms of games where you wander around at your own pace, isn't that the appeal of most if not all open world games? Essentially Morrowind Oblivion Skyrim are popular because they let you do this, just wander around exploring dungeons or collecting flower herbs installing outfit and item mods and roleplaying in your own mind? I don't think the Elder Scrolls games are popular purely because of their storytelling hehe (Morrowind had an ok story, the Dark Brotherhood quests are sometimes ok but I don't remember Skyrim's story or any of the NPCs at all) and the videogame statistics prove that only a miniscule minority of players ever complete the main quest (though if you are on 4chan, you are by definition amongst the hardcore dedicated videogamers, so probably within this minority)
