The Omnissiah studied his surroundings with an inquisitive eye. Such vision was not tied to what his corporeal shell could see but everything so much more beyond it. He can see the condition of every man upon the field and how they have built the great many fortifications that were built before and after the terror of the World Eaters who had claimed to take the Imperial Palace.
It overlooked the Katabatie Plain, a nearly perfectly flat piece of terrain that previously held shanty towns, markets, and a logistical staging area that was close to the Imperial Palace. While called a plain really it was part of the manufactured plateau that the Mechanicus had built for the Emperor when he was forging the foundations of the Imperial Palace.
One of the most important functions of the plains was that through the Saturnine Gate it was directly connected to the inner sanctum of the Imperial Palace. In times of peace it was a reasonable location that allowed the denizens of the Imperium’s most premier government to access goods and services from the rest of Terra.
There stood though the flaw of this location. Beyond everything Saturnine Gate was simultaneously the most valuable location for keeping the besieged palace supplied and the most vulnerable location for there was only one gate between the Katabatie Plain and where the Golden Throne laid.
Currently it was controlled by Archamus to get as many supplies and refuges into the Imperial Palace before the next assault. As expected of not only an Imperial Fist, but having a mind Rogal Dorn admired, it was hard to go wrong with how the defenses laid.
“You have done well in your defense.” The Omnissiah gave word to his praise as he began to rise, “Tell the men that when Lorgar and Fulgrim appear upon the battlefield, it shall be I who face them.”
“Understood.” The Imperial Fist answered while giving a bow. His battle torn cape fluttering in front of him as he felt the weight of the final battle.
