She paused when she noticed that W had gotten considerably closer than she was when you all entered the room. Her attention was entirely focused on Gwen. Both women stared at each other, equally perplexed at what they saw. And for the first time in a long time since you’ve met him, Warren seemed to grow nervous.
But nothing could prepare you for the momentous occasion of W reaching up to tear her mask off for the very first time. Gwen’s breath caught in her throat when she saw her own face staring back at her. It was slimmer, of course, but they shared many of the same features. Both women had cut their hair shorter in order to accommodate for their new lifestyles, and were almost of a similar length, with Gwen’s being a bit longer.
The blonde amazon’s brows furrowed as she stared at her less muscular doppelganger. “What the hell is this? More magic?”
Pandora shook her head. “Science, actually. W here is your genetic clone.”
Gwen’s frown deepened, and she glanced between you, Pandora and W for several moments.
“My…what!? Why would anyone create a clone of me?”
Pandora’s eyes slid towards Warren, and she nodded in his direction. “Ask your ‘professor’ here.”
Gwen turned to stare at her old teacher, shaking her head in disbelief. “What are you saying? Professor Warren, what is she saying?”
Warren sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Gwen, look. I know how this looks. Yes, I created W from a genetic sample that I procured from you-”
“When? When did you even do that? And without my permission!”
A bit of yellow had entered Gwen’s sclera, and she was getting that crazed look in her eye again.
“How long? How long has this been happening?” she asked, glaring around the room. No one wanted to speak, so Warren broke the silence.
“W has been sentient for several months now, but she doesn’t share any of your memories. I’ve basically been raising her myself all this time.”
She gritted her teeth and threw her hands up in anger. “That still doesn’t make it right! You all knew about this, and no one wanted to tell me that I’m getting cloned like Dolly!”
You wanted to protest, but you shared some guilt in all this. Gwen saw you with W during the attack, so she could only assume that you knew more about this than you were letting on. This was of course, only an assumption, but it was a correct one.
Lucky for you, however, all of her anger was reserved for Miles Warren, her former favorite professor.
The robed man took an involuntary step back when Gwen took a step towards him. “Gwen, please. I’m doing all of this for you.”
Gwen scoffed. “Right. You cloned a gullible, obedient version of me for my sake. I don’t even want to think about what you might’ve done to her when no one was looking.”
