The former being that Silver is a lot more moral than Armstrong and wouldn't resort to things like butchering children to reach his goals. In fact, Silver is pretty moral in general, even if people think otherwise. Anyway, the latter is that our captain does pretty much everything as personally and directly as possible so there is no subterfuge and no planning.
