Ideally you’d be able to ask Dimitri in your mind, but you’d rather not pull the stunt you did last time again, so you’ll have to settle for asking Sarah.
Sarah says she isn’t sure, and she usually isn’t told much about how the agency works, but if she had to guess, there’s a good chance the agency is still in a stalemate with the Praying Arthis. You decide to read up more about them on the files that you found in the apartment complex.
It seems that at first, the agency believed the same thing that everyone else did, they were dumb bugs that were probably under the orders of another magic user. The bugs weren’t exactly good fighters despite their size, and never attacked unless provoked. Even so, the agency thought it was a good idea to take them down sooner rather than later.
That was a mistake.
One praying arthis is not that strong, and anyone with a shotgun could probably take one down. The problem is that not only are they never alone, they’re also a lot smarter than one would think. The agency lost many good agents from ambush tactics, sabotage and even actual chemical warfare. For every Arthis that fell, two more would take their place and they would come back smarter and faster.
It takes about a week for an Arthis to reach adulthood, and even though they don’t eat meat, they are still incredibly voracious. They were content eating the garbage found in the sewers for a while as their numbers were still pretty low, but now that they’re at war, they’ve been multiplying so fast they’ve got no choice but to eat entire farm fields just to survive.
It seems that at this rate, the only way this can end is in the complete extermination of one side.
Now, the question is, what are you supposed to do about this? You’re glad they’re keeping the agency busy, but you’re not sure the insect swarm is the lesser of the two evils here.
>Maybe talk to the leader of the bugs? A queen is mentioned in the documents, and the bugs aren’t inherently aggressive.>Think of ways to wipe out the bugs, they’re too dangerous to be left unchecked.>Do nothing. Let the agency suffer, that gives you more time to do other things without being interrupted.>Write in.
