>>5881600With the addition of the Knights of Seiros to your party, the Blackwings begin making their way towards Rusalka. Due to your destruction of the Ostian and Sutri bridges, the company is forced to go around the Morgaine Ravine rather than fly over it, adding several days to your travel time. Along the way, you encounter roving bands of Adrestian citizenry and soldiers, yet none think to stand in your way or attack you. Word of Edelgard’s death has evidently travelled fast, and the refugees and stragglers you pass by are more than happy to give your group a wide berth rather than cause trouble. Though you worry that Byleth’s group will reach their destination before you do, you’re able to make good time on your journey. After several days of marching, you arrive on the outskirts of a small village in northern Rusalka.
“Where do you expect to find the rebels anyway?” Ashe asks you.
>“Don’t know. I can’t imagine they have a large sign up somewhere outside their hideout. We’ll have to ask around.”You recall the village ahead of you being called Snowcap. It was a small, quaint little burg, comprised of perhaps less than a hundred people in total. Whenever soldiers or merchants from Rusalka were required to travel, they’d often use the bridges across the Morgaine Ravine. As such, the people of Snowcap were not used to seeing large groups of armed strangers knocking at their doorstep. The looks you and the Blackwings receive upon your arrival range from anger, to confusion, to downright terror.
“C-can I help you, sirs?” A man dressed in peasant garb addresses you.
>“Is this Snowcap Village?”“T-that’s correct.” The man answers shakily. Unsurprisingly, he must assume that he’s currently speaking with bandits here to rob him. “May I ask who you are?”
>“Just mercenaries, passing through. Tell me, how are things in Rusalka? I’d heard talks of a rebellion?”“Everything’s f-fine.” The man answers in a way that makes you think he’s trying to convince himself. “Sorry to disappoint, but…there aint much mercenary work to be found here. We’re a peaceful folk. You must have misheard. Sorry if you had to come all this way…” It appears the entire village has stopped what they were doing to singularly watch you and this man’s conversation. You were beginning to suspect that it wasn’t just your presence alone that had these poor people nervous.
