>>5745366There’s no question that both the Dukedom and the Orthodox Church know who you are. If you blew your cover too quickly, then all this planning would be for naught. Instead, you defer to Clay here. He was undisputedly a master of disguise, having assumed multiple identities throughout the hundreds of years he’d been alive. If anyone could convince a couple of on-edge scouts of anything, it would be him. You hand the white flag to Clay.
“Leave it to me.” The mercenary says confidently as he saunters forward.
You are too far to make out the conversation between Clay and the Orthodox scouts, who surround the mercenary in a circle. Several seconds pass as they exchange words. The men look on edge at first, hands at the hilt of their blades. Soon after though, they seem to ease up, and you’re shocked to see the group even share a laugh together.
“You certainly keep some eccentric company, Blair.” Leif mutters.
>You take a moment to observe the prince’s own comrades. “You’re one to talk…”“We’re free to join up with their army.” Clay says upon his return. “Ingrid’s initial report was right it seems. Just as their army pulled up to Garreg Mach, they were caught by General Leopold’s men in a surprise attack. The madman led a calvary charge right out of the gate and wreaked havoc upon their camp, before disappearing back behind the gates. Morale has been low, but they seem to be glad to see us. Now that we’re here, they think the battle should go smoothly for them.”
“How wrong they are.” Leif says. “Let’s go.”
Having had your identities cleared, the scouts lead Leif and your group towards their camp. You do your best to look the part of a bodyguard, trying to bring no attention to yourself as you focus straight ahead. True to Ingrid’s words though, you can’t help but sense the feeling of disarray that is present amongst the enemy. Dozens of soldiers are running all around you in a frenzy. Several wounded are being taken away from the frontline and towards the back. The siege equipment has grown louder now that you’re this close, but you’re able to make out some of the soldier’s yelling.
“Get those wounded out of the way! Move it!”
“Damn it, I can’t find the hammers! Did we lose them during the calvary charge?”
“Get those men in position! The eastern wall should fall any minute now!”
