The Company sets about the usual reformation procedures with practiced hand. Do this sort of stuff long enough and you work out how to do it without even really needing to be in the room. The wounded are gathered and assisted. A medical station is improvised in the most useful place, the old farm-storage and shed near the fields.
The enemy dead we leave where they are - a concern for later. There will be time. And friends take precedence for now, as those who have escaped the razor kiss between life and death assist those who have been less fortunate.
The Company Doctors and medical assistants rush to their task, fussy as always, frustrated as always with our insistence on sharp ends and hurtful things, dismissive of pain, with awful bedside manner.
And each and all, for all their bluster, fighting tooth and nail to keep a few more from slipping away. They haranguage because they care, and because knowing they cannot fight in the open battle they choose their way here and make their stand with antiseptics, bandages and all the cunning of study and desperation.
