> "Surely the Dragon Guard has some less lethal recourse on matters of honour between the various cohorts?” The duel need not be to the death, even if that will clearly disappoint your challengers seeking to add your own name to theirs. You at least aim to have some fun, but clearly to these barbarians it just isn't the same. [Hearty]Lets make a compromise. These guys are tough bastards and so are we. This isnt a huge matter of honor for us, but these guys really want it. You arn't supposed to do duels to the death if you are both DG members or one of you is nominated and seeking the position. So lets just say that we can have our battle to the death once our two years are up. If they want us so bad, surely they can wait however long they have left(need skill check). Hell, with us in the guard, they will probably get even more fights due to how worthyy they think we are and will be willing to extend their service.
However, in order to help placate them, lets offer them a nonlethal duel, here and now. They can get a taste for us and no one has to die(yet). Hel(pun intended) we can even throw in stories of our exploits if they want our name so bad. Its not the same, but every norseman loves stories. And a posssible bonus is that our would-be foe may die in the next two years.
