Even as his attention was drawn to Particep Semper he did not stop paying attention to his surroundings. The Second Legion knowing full well that plans never come to forwishen, and thus death will follow to those who fail to notice the signs. Such an idea was driven into him by the Custodes and the Marine who led his very first mission.
It was this moment that he turned the moment footsteps of metal upon metal came to his ear. You cannot say though that metal upon metal was the exact point of realization as there was plenty of that happening around him as the Mechanicum performed maintenance on Particep Semper. No, it was a pair of stomping that was closer in relation to his own that caught his ears.
Thus the Legion Master turned and greeted his Equal, “Legion Master Matthias.” He announced while giving the Cog Mechanicum to his fellow.
“Legion Master Vadar.” Declared the Imperial Fist as he gave the sign of unification.
Vadar looked upon the symbol that he was served under for a long moment of contemplation.
It was his fellow Legion Master that broke the spell, “Is something troubling you?”
“Times change once again brother.” Declared Vadar as he relaxed his hands, “Once, we both presented the symbol of Unification, then the newest recruits presented the Aquila. Now, the 2nd presents the Cog.”
“As is expected.” Matthias answered as he looked dead eye upon Vadar, “It is a problem only you and those underneath you have currently as we both know. Just with the Aquila, the new will edge you out.”
“One hundred to one, that is the ratio of the second when referencing those born before and after the Treaty of Olympus.” Vadar declared as he supported the inference of his brother.
“Two hundred to one within the seventh.” The Fist responded only to confirm that the second were not the only ones to have changed so drastically.
“Then it shall be good to know that at least those in the future can serve my Father well in the future.” Vadar’s face had grown a shade of hopefulness as he knew he was in the presence of a friend. He was no fool though as he heard the heavy beats of Matthias’s hearts.
