b]AGE 752, CRIMSON DEMON VILLAGE OUTSKIRTS[/b:lit]
“Hun, relax. I'm fine.” your wife says, reaching out and grabbing you by the forearm as you try and rush past her. “Chi, look at me.”
You stop, looking down at your wife resting on the couch you'd made her next to the fireplace. She holds your arm, fingers digging in as she stares up into your eyes.
“I'm fine. Relax Chilli. Please.” she tells you seriously. “Take a deep breath hun. You getting all worked up like this is really stressing both of us out over here.”
“Sorry, sorry. I'm just....” you say, taking a deep breath in then exhaling slowly. “Sorry. I'm just worried for you and our daughter.”
“I know hun. I know.” she says, letting go and patting you on the arm instead. “But I'm fine. Our home is the safest place on this entire planet and I'm perfectly comfortable. If I need anything at all I'll let you know immediately. Don't worry so much about me.”
“I don't think I could ever stop worrying about you Megu. You or our daughter.” you tell her, leaning in for a kiss. But as you do, suddenly the Crimson Demon Village's alarm suddenly sounds.
“UNKNOWN AERIAL THREAT RAPIDLY APPROACHING! FROM THE NORTH!![/B]” you hear the automated voice calling out, almost flinching back from your wife as you immediately move to action. Your body moves as if on instinct, calling your staff to your left hand and the weapon you now know is named Moonlight Greatsword to your right. But then you realize that you're about to leave your wife Megumin alone, and glance back towards her. But she smirks at you, giving you a teasing wink.
“Go on hun. Go be the hero our people need.”
“But-” you start, when she shakes her head and gives you a playfully dismissive wave.
“Oh no you don't. I'm not gonna allow you to use me as an excuse to avoid helping out the village again.” she teases you, reminding you again of what happened the week before last when you tried to ignore a dragon threatening the village. “Get out there mister 'Crystal Sage', and do what only you can do.”
“Alright, but I'll be right back.” you tell her, your wife laughing at your no-doubt worried expression. Reaching out and grabbing your robe off the wall with your left, you then take off up the stairs towards the roof. Slotting the staff into it you sling the robe on over your naked chest, leaving your armor behind as it would take too long to go get. Sprinting up the spiral staircase you emerge onto the open roof.
