This age, the 13th Rex comes to power, the elder of two sons of the previous Rex. The two sons of the 12th Rex, who got the position due to the ousting of the 11th Regina after her vampiric blood was exposed, competed fiercely for the position. While many tales exist of brotherly rivalry and competition being healthy and promoting good growth, this rivalry is anything but. The brothers seem to hate each other, and the younger brother is viciously angry and jealous of his brother's superiority.
Refusing to accept his brother's position as the new Rex, the younger brother leaves the capital of Anguia and travels south to Taurica. Known for its barbaric roots and with a deserved reputation to this day of favoring warriors and hunters over other professions, the brother makes well known his intent to take over Taurica and rule it as his own domain.
The root of this divide between the siblings soon becomes apparent; they both love the same woman. Unlike a similar tale in ages past, however, there does not appear to be any way to reconcile the brothers. This woman, herself descended from the both the First Rex and the Taurican Barbarian King of Age 10 (and is in fact the sole surviving descendant of both him and the 6th Regina), is a Great Beauty. She and the current Rex love each other, but the younger brother covets her for himself. He plans to take over Taurica, and bring her bloodline back to the barbaric lands which spawned it to bring further legitimacy to his new throne.
Perhaps it is due to the distraction afforded by the conflict between the two brothers, but there are no issues with the now-adult dragon and his descendants upon the Isle of Exile in our society this age.
