A saying about Kykuit, the actual Rockefeller estate. Then I looked more into it.
So Kykuit is the name of the main mansion, and it has 40 rooms.
There are gardens: terraced gardens include a Morning Garden, Grand Staircase, Japanese Garden, Italian Garden, Japanese-style brook, Japanese Tea-house with parts made in Kyoto, large Oceanus fountain, Temple of Aphrodite, loggia, and semicircular rose garden.
Pocantico Hills, called Kykuit at times after the mansion, is the name of the estate. And this is where it gets absurd. For scale, it occupies 3,410 acres. I list what residences/buildings are on the estate:
Hawes House
Kent House
Fieldwood Farm
Hillcrest, a mansion with a 3-story underground bunker that houses the Rockefeller Archive Center
Hudson Pines
Hunting Lodge
Rockwood Hall had 204 rooms and was once 1,000 acres in size. Demolished.
The Pocantico Conference Center
Coach Barn, 3 stories, 3x the size of Kykuit mansion. Collection of horse-drawn carriages and 12 vintage cars.
The Playhouse, 2 stories, 3x size of Kykuit, a nine-hole, reversible golf course, an outdoor swimming pool, and two tennis courts. It contains an indoor swimming pool and tennis court, a fully equipped basketball gym, a squash court, a billiard room, and a full-size bowling alley. It also has dining and living rooms, and a huge reception room resembling an English baronial hall.
The Orangerie was modeled after one at Versailles.
Also, it's in Mount Pleasant, New York. We might just be 25 miles north of NYC. Might be able to just drive south and recruit from the Big Apple.
