>>5576393Now, with the benefit of hindsight, you see where you made your mistakes. You are used to dealing with isolated dwarven outposts, barbarous bugbears, isolated and impoverished elves, and naturally-subordinate kobolds. These humans may be an inferior species, but they are no push-overs. The Archmage Henzler, in particular, proved to be wily for one of her breed. She pretended to be cooperative, lured you into her laboratory with promises of bio-magical augmentation for you and your subordinate, and even got you to remove your Amulet of Disguise and to explain your purpose in her city… Only to then reveal that she was never under your control to begin with. Rather, she was still bound to your mother’s demonic minion, and that demon is now the under the ownership of another.
The Green Knight!
Now, you and Roth are staring down this traitorous witch-woman. Olu the Archer is unconscious, strapped to her table, and naked from the waist down…
(It’s a long story.)
…And the green-armoured knight who slew your mother and has long haunted your torpor is heading this way. There is only one exit—behind you, in the direction of that deadly nemesis. Archmage Henzler herself is no easy prey, either—she has demonstrated a terrifying command of the fleshweaver’s art, as well as other spellcraft. You are trapped! Doomed!
(Calm down. Take a breath. You are Theral of Bloodrise. You can do this. Think, damnit!)
