>>6309229It occurs to you that somewhere within these last two floors, you’d become to this man what Alvin had been to you. You were never one to shy away from the path that many would consider dangerous. But when confronted with someone who was perhaps even more reckless than yourself, you found that you’d somehow become the voice of reason. You frown. That was hardly a suitable role. You’d gotten this far by following your instinct. Perhaps you were just overthinking things. It wasn’t like you to shy away from some meat, nor to be intimidated by some silly slope, no matter how steep or treacherous it might have appeared.
“W-well?” Butch stammers, his teeth chattering as snow continues to fall.
>“Yeah, this is probably fine. Let’s jump down.”You leap off the side of the hill, sliding down towards the warp panel you’d seen earlier. You descend faster and faster, somehow avoiding any and all obstacles in your path, which include several large boulders that had been hidden by fallen snow. The whole experience actually proves to be rather enjoyable., further cementing your theory that it was not worth fretting over the small things. You’d leave that to May. One final boulder lies between you and flat ground. Unable to avoid it, you instead smash it apart with your Bolt Axe. The magically charged cleaver destroys it completely, scattering debris everywhere.
>20xp gained! (20/100)>“Damn! That was fun!” You exclaim, ignoring the rather sharp, pointed stone that, had you messed up your landing, might have very well impaled you upon impact.“S-see! Told you!” Butch says, sliding down to join you. The two of you bump fists in a show of solidarity, before running off to the warp panel you’d spotted earlier. “Not too bad, but let’s hope this next floor’s a bit warmer, eh?!”
Once more, you step on the warp panel. At this point, you were beginning to get used to the dizzying sensation of the magic used to teleport you between floors. That familiar sensation of weightlessness grasps you once more, and you are suddenly no longer standing in a snowy tundra, but rather…
>Floor 3>Turn 3/40“The fuck is this?!” Butch screams.
>“Well, it’s warmer at least…”Floor 3 wound up being the exact opposite of Floor 2, in perhaps the worst way possible. The two of you find yourselves standing in what must closely resemble Hell. You were surrounded on all sides by a lake of fire. The heat was so intense that even breathing hurt, and occasionally waves of lava would explode around you, landing on the ground and sizzling menacingly.
“Fuck me, but if this Sorcerer King ins’t the biggest asshole I’ve never met. That Mark guy was right about him.”
>“Marek.”“Whatever. How are we getting out of this one?”
