You briefly lose sight of her for only a few seconds, but when you turn the corner you can see the scene play out before you like a tragic play. Jess walks forward, blissfully staring at an orange in her hand, accidentally stepping in-between a Langlish bravo buying a meal from one of the stallholders. The bravo steps back into the street proper with an indignant expression on his face, only to come into the path of another bravo strolling long the lane.
“Ehi, sto camminando qui!” It’s hardly a bump, more of a slight brush but the two men are immediately hostile to one another. The second bravo, the one bumped into, flicks a dismissive gesture at the first.
“Occupare tutta la strada, perché no? Sciocco dai piedi piatti…” The first bravo, not one to back down, flings his arm wide and forces Jess to skip back as he swaggers into the street proper.
“Chi chiami sciocco, merda per i cervelli?” The second bravo draws himself up, hand already on the hilt of his long steel. “Tua madre era un criceto e tuo padre odorava di sambuco!”
“Provami allora, bocca grande!” The ring of steel carries in the street as the second bravo draws his blade while Jess quite casually attempts to walk past them on one side and then the other. “Sono Mercuzio della famiglia Moretti! Il tuo nome e la tua famiglia, quindi potrei intaccarmi la cintura.”
It is of little use as the two bravos jostle in the street, blocking the way as surely as a castle wall. They manage to take up the entire pathway with their strides and wild hand gestures. Both of them carry the long and short steel blades you remember the Golden Sun mercenary in Fallavon using. Unlike the Primus Pilus though, they are bedecked in fine clothe and a padded jacket rather than heavy armour. You make a mental note that the jackets might offer some protection against a slicing motion, you don’t think they will offer much protection against a solid thrust from the rapiers they’re both equipped with.
