They continued their way through the halls taking the place inch by inch. All of their eyes glanced at every piece of the wall while most of the pressure was being placed upon the Acillian for the Omnispex readout.
The halls were admittedly quite wide for the facility. Judging from his experience Lorch could say they were wide enough for equipment to travel without much error. Maybe the thing that was being researched here was a large engine of some kind. While that might go against the idea of it being an underground facility, maybe if the engine was vital its secrecy would be worth the facility.
The lighting did not improve at all. As for the reasoning the AI was keeping them on in the first place Lorch did not know, but either way his helm and enhanced biology is more than able to cut through the shadows before him. Looking upon the walls he saw numerous places where the turrets had been, but now there was a simple splotch of dust. He also noticed a nearby panel not having nearly as much dust upon it than before.
With a single movement of his hand the Acillian turned his tracker to the spot. The Astartes received a shaking of the head as his helm informed the Astartes that while there was a chamber here, it was empty.
They kept on moving forward after that. A great amount of the light now comes from the eyes of the numerous Skitarii Rangers that were with them. Lorch’s senses were telling him that they were coming but in what form the Astartes could have yet known.
A second later he noticed the screen of L3KT’s Omnispex lighting up as the Acillian pointed forward, +37 degrees up from gun neutral, at 287!+
With that call out the Skitarii were the first to take their arms and fire a series of their galvanic rounds into the vent that was pointed out. The sound of a small explosion came out as the Acillian brought his Omnispex close while speaking a small prayer.
+The enemy has just attempted an interference against the ocular. I also hold a 78% certainty that the AI was also testing out ways underneath my Omnispex. The Machine Spirit of the Omnispex is venerate and powerful though, so it has yet to be subverted.+ Declared the Acillian as he went back to scanning.
+If its testing stealth, then we do not know if at some point it is gaining success.+ The Captain said as he felt his heart grow hard, +Its poking at us like a swarm. When it feels confident it will strike for a killing blow with numbers.+
+Then we should cover as much ground as possible before it has that chance.+ L3KT said as the troop continued to take ground.
