>Talk about your day.
“Hmmmmmmm.” Clover sits down. “Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.”
Melissa blinks. “What are you hmming about? I think it’s all fairly straightforward so far, given the information I know. Is there something else that doesn’t quite add up?”
“I don’t know.” The wolf-girl crosses her arms and thinks. Then, an idea comes to mind. She points at Melissa triumphantly. “Since I don’t know, maybe I’d better tell you everything that happened today!”
“I really don’t think that’s-”
“So this friend I’m talking about, her name is Samantha.” Clover begins rambling to her packmate. Melissa takes a deep breath, before settling in for the long haul. “I don’t really know her last name or anything else about her since I just met her today, but I do have her phone number and she seems like she’s nice. When we first met she did seem kinda nervous, but-” The wolf-girl snaps, her memories brilliantly connecting together. “That was right after we met with that one girl who told us about the killer at the train station! Sammie wasn’t at that meeting, but me and Lor were, and that girl got kinda mad at the end, but she did mention you I think, and I hope she’s okay now.”
“Oookay?” Melissa crosses her arms again. “So you went to the meeting, and met Samantha afterwards.”
“Yeah! And we visited the Coordinator’s office too. Sammie, Lor, and me. That was… pretty messed up.”
Clover turns away with a downcast gaze. Melissa looks at her sympathetically. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, Holmsie.” Clover perks back up a little. “So then we were walking away, and she showed me a card she found at the Coordinator’s that was actually your card! Then the suit guys showed up and we ran and she, um… left for reasons.” The wolf-girl leans forward excitedly. “Does she sound familiar to you?”
“No, not really.” The former detective has a slightly distant gaze. “She still kept those cards, huh…” After a second, she shakes her head to refocus. “Anyway, I’m not sure if any of that really tells me much about the suited guys. However, it does seem like there’s someone you can ask for more information.” The former detective gestures at Clover’s pocket. “If you have Samantha’s number, why don’t you just call her? Then you could find out who this friend of hers is, and see if there was any possible motivation for wanting to bring you in.”
Clover looks down at her hands and twiddles her thumbs nervously.
>…Call Sammie? After what happened? Surely there’s some other way… or maybe just leave it be and head home. Or do something else.
