[ THE WAILING WALL IN THE EAST ]
Back to the Imperial Seat again. Once more, I went dressed in my Gold Goddess attire to blend in with the Immortal class of the Heavenly Capital. This time, my travels took me to the other side of the ecumenopolis. I had already seen the Hallowed Wall of the West, which was the center of Thandir and his Lokas, now I came to see the Wailing Wall in the East, residence of Lord Akasa, the esteemed God of Space I had heard so much about.
And it was the inverse of Thandir's Lokas.
Whereas Thandir's Hallowed Wall was host to his Lokas that sought to emulate Heaven, the Wailing Wall was a starry place of many great institutions overlooking the sprawls of the Immortal cityscape below. I saw treasured castles and extravagant palace. I saw the cosmos themselves above, shining, with the unnatural sights of many new planets and moons filling the sky, which itself had me rightfully perplexed. Hainei had only one sun and one moon, and there were no other planets that could be seen in its sky. Hainei was the center of the universe. But I realized there was a reason for this. This was no emulation of Heaven, like the Lokas, this was the cosmic reaches of the Milky Way itself brought closer to earth through distortions of space. Manipulations of distance. Star lanes made shorter, as the God of Space reached into the cosmos above and charted its courses.
I couldn't wait to meet him. I traveled fast, and I traveled hard, going by all the security of the Wei that stood between me and the top of the Wailing Wall where Akasa resided. He was the Interior Minister, he was the administrator of the Heavenly Capital itself, and the chief of the Interior Ministry's armed forces, the Metropolitan Standard Army... the Wei. The worldwide police force.
