Dhul Qarnayn is not a beautiful planet. The Qarthadast are said to be former slaves who overthrew their masters - it is widely believed they possess great wonders of planetary ecosynthesis, the secrets of shaping worlds; alterations of terrain and climate the ancients called terraforming, adjusting even the patterns of coronal winds and geomagnetic storms, of taming space weather itself; yet for some reason, the Qarthadast have chosen to terraform every planet they encounter into barren desert - even lush and verdant oasis worlds are reduced to seas of silt and parched dunes.
