The Emperor looked around those present and measured them each up. His eyes seemingly flaring to life as he studied what happened. TalOS felt the Warp around them all change as the eyes of the Emperor looked farther than simply this room.
The Psyker known as the Emperor of Mankind was looking into the future at this very moment. His eyes gazing upon what is now a set line of events that will not be changed. Where before variations might have been found between inaction and action, now he was blessed with the foresight knowing that there will be inaction.
TalOS wondered for this moment if his brothers knew of their Father’s future sight. Surely Magnus, who was wise in all forms of the Warp, could see the future as plain as the Emperor. Then TalOS’s eyes glanced upon Sanguinius, for the Angel could see the future as well in his eyes.
He knew, he definitely knew a stare that he himself had given.
“Our foe, the Rangdan, will strike from the North and the East. This will only be the concentration of their invasion as they seek to take the Milky Way from all sides.” The Emperor told his sons as he looked upon them all once more, “To whom do I task the defences?”
“Father!” Perturabo was the first to bark and rose to his feet with a fury, “Upon Olympia I have crafted invulnerable fortresses, so leave the East to my Iron Warriors!”
“If that is what you desire Perturabo, then you shall defend it.” The Emperor spoke as he gave a nod.
The East, in the east was where Xana stood in defiance of the immaterium that surrounds it. Of all his brothers TalOS did not expect to see Perturabo wish to take such a front with such fervor. Maybe he called such a place because Perturabo wanted to be the one to have glory there. Unlike other Legions, even with decimation, the Iron Warriors were still at full stock. TalOS would need to pay more attention.
“Father.” The Lion spoke for the first time and looked upon the Emperor with a sharpened eye, “My Legion is ashamed that we have failed to eliminate this threat twice now. Give us one more attempt with my full Legion under my wing so that I may strike them down.”
“Even at full Legion Strength you will not be successful.” The Emperor said as he looked towards the Wolf, “Leman, assist your brother in the defence of the Northern Rim.”
“They are as good as dead Father!” Barked the Wolf as he raised his fist in triumph.
