>>6003593The enemy is dispersed but mostly concentrated in the north. The Deluge cuts this region in half, with the only major crossings between north and south banks being at Windchime—which we currently hold—and the Spanway. We should leave a force at Windchime, both to deter the force we've just seen off from trying anything and to deny a crossing to the northern force. We could also attempt to destroy the bridge across the Deluge. I'd like to hear what Fireskellian thinks of this. If we can deny the bridge to the enemy, we can do with a less potent holding force at Windchime.
I propose the bulk of our force goes south along with Fireskellian, engaging and destroying any enemy groupings we find. The aggressive posture of the enemy will make this task easy in the early going, since the enemy will be liable to come to us, at least before we bloody them. In due time, the northern force will be alerted of our presence on the southern side of the Deluge and they will begin to move. The Spanway will be the only viable crossing for them. This being a mounted force, I do not rate their capability to pontoon across the Deluge in the near term very highly.
The northern force will take some time to consolidate and come at us with full force, which, in addition to the Spanway being their only viable crossing point, gives us quite a lot of latitude when it comes to choosing and preparing the field of battle. We can choose to fight the enemy at the Spanway, outside or in Howlhammer, or even further on at Glimini. Our aim is the wholesale destruction of this formation and their elimination as a credible threat to our lines of communication.
Of course, this is just a skeleton of a plan. There are many, many particulars that it leaves unaddressed.
