“We missed you.” the twins say in your arms, you holding them close as their friends all look at Chaya. Or, more specifically, her tail.
“What happened?” Ticho asks, looking from Chaya's nub of a tail up to her eyes. “Did some bad guy eat it?”
“Hahaha, no. Nobody ate it. At least I don't think so.” she says with a clearly forced smile, your daughter seeming very practiced at that. “I lost it because of those Time Patrol bastards. And when I see him again, I'm taking one of his legs in exchange.”
“Is it hard to walk around without it?” Kabash asks, the youth looking genuinely worried. “Don't you feel off balance?”
“I did at first, but you get used to it.” Chaya answers, clearly getting uncomfortable with this line of questioning. But luckily for her Turles pulls up, stopping abruptly by everyone as his daughter rushes over.
“DADDY!” Ticho calls out, blitzing her dad and slamming into him at full speed. He braces himself and catches her, you chuckling a bit as he winces from the blow. Turles just holds his daughter as she starts talking excitedly to him, understanding how he's feeling all too well.
