>>5350667>“Don’t get complacent. I have a feeling this won’t be as easy as we think. What about you, Ava? Are your girls ready?”Ava looks at you, and you wonder when the last time she got a good night’s sleep was. “Ready for more wanton slaughter and death? Yes, I suppose they’re always ready for that. Tell me, is it true that these are Imperials we’ll be fighting this time?”
>“It appears that way.”She nods. “Good…it’s been too long since we fought Imperials…”
Ava was an experienced mercenary, though of a far different type than others you’d interacted with like Shelley or Nero. She’d worked far more “reputable” jobs than the other two, mostly guarding caravans and pilgrimages. She was a mother, and she’d use the money she’d earned to support her family. While she had been away on one such job, her husband and two children had gone on a trip to Garreg Mach for the end of year festivities. Unfortunately, they had been caught in the Empire’s siege, and never returned. Her family presumed dead; Ava fell into a deep depression. With nowhere else to go, she joined the Blackwings. Whether she fights for you to get back at the Imperials, or because she has nowhere else to go, you don’t know. She’s skilled with both pegasus and bow, a rare combination.
Nero laughs, slapping a hand on Ava’s shoulder. “That’s our girl, down in the dumps as ever. Personally, doesn’t matter to me whether they’re Imperials or kittens. Pay me the gold and they’re as good as dead.”
Ava brushes the man’s hand off her nonchalantly. “What’s the point? Haven’t you enough gold already? What in the Goddess’ name do you even spend it all on? Wyvern polish?”
Nero looks at her seriously. “What a man spends his gold on is his and no one else’s business. Besides, killing people for financial compensation is an age-old tradition around these parts. If you don’t like it, I’d be happy to take your share off your hands.”
>Ava looks as though she’s ready to continue this conversation before you step in. “I trust the two of you will be on your best behavior on this next mission, yes?”“Of course, Commander!” Nero flashes you a toothy smile. “I am nothing, if not a professional.”
“I am yours to command, Blair.” Ava says. “Do with me as you see fit.”
“Let me ask. Given our opponent, are we going with the usual ‘Shock and Awe” tactic here?” Nero asks mischievously.
>“Shock and Awe.” You confirm.>Both captains nod their approval, intimately familiar with the tactic that’s led your company to victory many a time before. “Great. Pick your best five fliers and have them ready to leave tonight. I have nothing but the upmost faith in both of you.”You depart, figuring you have time to meet another pair of your captains.
