>>5692669>>5692683>>5692690>>5692693>>5692694No. Right now isn’t the time for casualties – not when you don’t know what’s monitoring you.
Your blood boils beneath your skin as you slip off your black gloves, gently tucking them in your jacket pocket as you prepare to cast your magic. All around your hands, a litany of scars overlaps each other like crossed stitching – when you run your nail across your palm, another is added to the lineup. Fresh blood begins to trickle and run to your wrist, where it wraps around and constructs itself into ancient sigils. Suddenly, your heart is pounding, and your eyes burn as you tap into your lifeforce – your accursed magic.
<span class="mu-i">”Come.”</span>
Your own words reverberate throughout your skull, and somehow, you feel several things croon in response. You hear footsteps and scratching against the forest floor, and before you know it, a small army of ten red squirrels stand at attention before you. You allow yourself the briefest of smiles before your eyes harden, simply pointing a finger to the two men.
<span class="mu-i">”Go.”</span>
The effect is immediate. All ten of them move like a shot, first moving left before darting towards them so as not to draw attention to you. Even from this distance, you can see one of them jump before straightening his tie, only to score himself a laugh from his partner. That laugh quickly dies when two of the squirrels jump a solid three feet in the air and bump the kopesh right off of the man’s hip. Before either of them can react, all ten have their teeth in the sheathe and are bolting off into the woods.
“W-What the fuck?!” One of them exclaims, hurriedly extending their hand and sending a lance of energy towards the culprits. Thankfully, due to the darkness, he misses by a country mile – and they both book it after them, cursing the squirrels all the while.
That was a ballsy maneuver, but you know that animals tend to act strange in the presence of magical power. Some mages are nasty tricksters, after all.

“An interesting tactic. Not keen on spilling blood besides your own tonight?” Your handler titters again, ghosting a hand across your back. You pay her no heed as you jog towards the manor, no longer concerned about the men overhearing you.
The entrance is a large set of wooden double doors, each one possessing an innumerable amount of carvings. Some are magical glyphs of protection, and others are far beyond your comprehension – you weren’t exactly the most learned youth. Thankfully, your handler steps right beside you.
“I will handle the wards. Please handle the physical aspect, Michael.”
Your blood sings with adrenaline. You grimace, knowing that you need to work fast.
