[UNSTABLE RESOLVE] WE CANNOT, AND SHOULD NOT, FAIL OUR MISSION.
[UNSTABLE RESOLVE] EVEN IF.
<span class="mu-r">[UNSTABLE RESOLVE] IT MEANS THAT THERE MUST BE BLOOD.</span>
<span class="mu-s">"Finally."</span> All you can see now is the Admiral sitting across from you and the game the two of you are playing. Nothing else matters. <span class="mu-s">"You're finally playing the Great Game. It's been so long since I've played with someone on my level."</span>
Your smile keeps on widening. The Admiral is covered head to toe in bright pink wounds. Ripped open by your force of will. His right hand is barely able to move the pieces he's moving. You're not doing much better yourself. You had to stop moving your left hand all together since it's nothing but a mangled mess of keratin, blood, and loose skin.
[UNSTABLE RESOLVE] You shake the mangled mess of your left hand. Just as quickly as it turned into a mess of keratin and loose skin, it returns back to a normal human hand.
"Heh. Great game this. War that. It's all talk, isn't it? You're old news, old man."
<span class="mu-s">"Hm?"</span> The Admiral's smile wavers a bit. The prideful anomaly snarls at what you just said. <span class="mu-s">"At least I don't need to drug myself up just to win a fight. It is beneath me."</span>
"So? In war, you use every advantage you can. Sticking to your dogmatic beliefs that have bene outdated for centuries just shows me how powerless you truly are." You move one of your few pawns to capture one of his remaining pawns. "I worked with X-Company. I trained under them. The training they put their men and women through nearly killed me and, fuck, the amount of bodies I saw back in their medbays. But I survived." You jab a broken finger at him.
"You? You would've just been another worthless suit. Sitting on your ass. Doing JACK SHIT while REAL MEN fought to survive."
The Admiral snarls, leaning forward to stare you down with that horrid blue light leaking out of his eyes. <span class="mu-s">"You know nothing. I fought in every single war that happened. All three World Wars. The Smog Wars. The Antiseptic War. I saw Man create the first nuclear device. You know NOTHING of what I've seen and done."</span>
"Worthless names. Worthless medals. If that was true, you would've noticed the cyanide I slipped into your whiskey."
The Admiral's eyes widen. <span class="mu-s">"You wh-"</span> Before he can react, the five pills worth of cyanide he swallowed finally hit him. While a normal human would've dropped dead by now, the only immediate reaction you see is a bloody spittle leaking out of the corner of his mouth. <span class="mu-s">"So you did. Heh."</span> His movements are more sluggish as he keeps trying his best to play the game.
>CHARM CHECK: PASS!
<span class="mu-s">"You think you won? I can't die. I won't die. No matter how many bullets or how much poison you put into me, I'll come back. There must. Always be." He has to stop for a moment to hack up a hunk of bloodied flesh. "An Admiral. I am. That Admiral."
The Admiral grinds his teeth as he reaches into his pocket. He slams something onto the table.</span>
